Kaizer Chiefs are set to face Chippa United in a crucial Betway Premiership match at the Nelson Mandela Stadium in Gqeberha. Coach Nasreddine Nabi has made two changes to the starting XI, with Zitha Kwinika and Tashreeq Morris returning to the lineup against the Chilli Boys in the away encounter. Kick-off 17:30
The team remains largely the same, as the one that played against Mamelodi Sundowns in the Nedbank Cup semi-final. Kwinika comes in following an injury sustained by Given Msimango, while Morris replaces Glody Lilepo who starts from the bench. The team is still without Rushwin Dortley who is recovering from a knee operation, while Miguel Inacio and Reeve Frosler are still recovering from a calf and shoulder injuries respectively.
Chiefs will apply a similar approach from the previous match against the Brazilians using a 1-4-4-2 formation. Morris will partner with Wandile Duba who was on the goalscoring charts in the Nedbank Cup semi-final. They will be supported by Gaston Sirino, Pule Mmodi and captain Yusuf Maart. Thabo Cele will be the link between the attack and defence. With Kwinika returning, he completes the back four with Edmilson Dove as his centre-back partner, with Bradley Cross and Dillon Solomons on the wings.
In the previous match Chiefs managed to find the back of the net twice coming back from a one-nil deficit against Sundowns. This will be Amakhosi’s match day 25 in the league campaign. The Glamour Boys go into the encounter with eight wins thus far and have accumulated 30 points in total. Chiefs and Chippa meet for the third time this season with the visitors being dominant against their opponents in league and cup encounters.
Nabi’s side heads into this match following a four-match winless streak in the league. Counting down to the end of the season Chiefs is looking to collect points to ensure a respectable finish on the log standings. The win against Sundowns in their last outing will play a major role in ensuring that the players are highly motivated ahead of this fixture in the windy city.
