Duba back for Chiefs against Stellies

Kaizer Chiefs return to action this evening after three weeks on the sidelines due to the enforced FIFA international break, as they host Stellenbosch FC at FNB Stadium in the eighth round of this season’s Betway Premiership.

Unbeaten in their opening seven league fixtures, Amakhosi will be eager to make their home ground advantage count when they step back onto the FNB pitch for the first time in almost two months.

Chiefs are currently fourth on the log standings with 13 points, while Stellenbosch sit seventh, with nine points from the same number of matches.

Coach Fernando Da Cruz will welcome the return of Wandile Duba and Flavio Da Silva from injury, while Luke Baartman has also recovered after sustaining a knock while on duty with the national under‑23 side. The medical team, however, has confirmed that Lebohang Maboe is sidelined following an injury in the last outing against Golden Arrows, and Siphesihle Ndlovu is also ruled out.

It should make for an interesting clash with Stellies lining up four former Chiefs players in their starting XI.

Coach Da Cruz is expected to maintain his preferred 4‑3‑3 formation for this evening.

Renaldo Leaner starts his second match in goal for Amakhosi.

The back four will feature Bradley Cross on the left, Thabo Moloisane and Inacio Miguel as the central pairing, and Reeve Frosler on the right.

Sibongiseni Mthethwa anchors the midfield, supported by Thabiso Monyane on the right and Paseka Mako on the left.

Up front, Mduduzi Shabalala operates from the left, and Mfundo Vilakazi from the right, with Duba leading the attack.

Refereeing the match is Sikhumbuzo Gasa, assisted by Khamusi Razwimisani and Thabo Thinane, with the fourth official being Abram Mashala.

Miguel will captain the Amakhosi ship.

This evening’s Betway Premiership clash between the Glamour Boys and the Winelands starts at 19:30 at FNB Stadium in Nasrec.

The match is also live on television on SuperSport’s Channel 205 on DStv, with commentary on selected SABC radio stations. Regular updates will be provided on Kaizer Chiefs’ X (formerly Twitter).
