In form Amakhosi defender David Obua is more than convinced that come May, Chiefs will walk away with their third PSL Crown in as many seasons. Obua who this season was twice responsible for helping Chiefs see of arch rivals Orlando Pirates has been an inspiration for Chiefs on the left side, as the Amakhosi have lacked a natural left footed player on the left side of midfield for some time now.

“We have a group of committed and hard working players for fight for each other during a game and our sense of team and the strong spirit that lies within the team will se us true,” are one of the reasons he gives for why Chiefs will hold on to the title.

When the league resumes in just over fourteen days time Chiefs will play current league leaders Sundowns twice within the space of a week, Obua views the outcome of these games critical for Chiefs championship aspirations. “By beating Sundowns twice we will take a six points off them and will lead them in the standings which will put us in a good psychological standing over them,” adds Obua.

The highly talented Obua also sees Sundowns and Pirates participation in the African Champions league as advantageous to Chiefs he continues further “playing in Africa will have an effect on both of these teams and we need to continue winning our games while they are busy in Africa. The pressure will be on them to keep up with us and with them playing extra games and added with the travelling fatigue is bound to set in and with that the slip up’s will come”.

When the league resumes on February 15th will see Chiefs who are currently third with a game in hand over second placed Pirates with have eleven games left for the season. The way the fixtures have been drawn of the Amakhosi’s eleven remaining games seven of these are home games for Chiefs. Although David Obua is of the opinion that Chiefs always have large support no matter where in the country they play being based at home will save on travelling time, which cuts in to precious occasions like training and the players will have extra rest time between games.
