It’s Betway Premiership fixture number 11 for Kaizer Chiefs this evening as they welcome newly promoted side, Orbit College to the FNB Stadium, where they will meet for the first time ever, to contend for the three points on offer for the winner.
Both teams come into the game with confidence after winning their respective weekend matches - with Amakhosi beating Durban City 1-0 in Durban on Friday and Orbit registering a 3-1 victory over Magesi on Saturday afternoon.
Chiefs are still fourth on the log with 19 points in their first 10 matches of the season, while the visitors, Orbit are in position 11 with 13 points after 11 outings.
Many supporters will be delighted to see Asanele Velebayi start his first game since his arrival at Naturena as the coaches implement four changes for this evening’s encounter.
After picking up his fourth yellow card on Friday, Inacio Miguel will miss the match and will be replaced in the starting line-up by Zitha Kwinika. The second change in defence sees Thabiso Monyane replace Dillan Solomons. There are two more changes, with Thabo Cele coming in for Nkosingiphile Ngcobo in midfield, and Velebayi replacing Glody Lilepo in the forward line.
Chiefs will go back to a 4-3-3 set-up on the pitch.
Brandon Petersen will be looking for his 10th clean sheet in all competition as he starts in goal.
Bradley Cross will play at left-back, Aden McCarthy and Kwinika in the centre, and the right-back position will have Monyane.
Friday’s man of the match Sibongiseni Mthethwa is the holding midfielder. He will have Cele and Mduduzi Shabalala just in front of him.
The frontline will have Velebayi on the left flank and Mfundo Vilakazi is on the left, with Etiosa Ighodaro leading the attack.
The referee for this evening is Thando Ndzandzeka. His assistants are Sipho Mahlangu and Modisa Moretse. The fourth official is Lesego Monare Maditsi.
The Betway Premiership match between Amakhosi and Orbit will kick off at 19:30 at FNB stadium in Durban. The match will be live on SuperSport’s PSL Channel 202 on DStv and various SABC radio stations. There will be regular updates on the Club’s X (formerly known as Twitter) account, @kaizerchiefs.
