“Obviously, the game will be tough because they haven’t lost at home and they would also like to go through to the next stage of the competition. We just need to work with the players and make sure we get that important goal.”
Chiefs are in Conakry, Guinea for their final Group C match in the CAF Champions League against Horoya AC. Both teams have 8 points and only one will join Group C leaders Wydad who have already qualified for the quarterfinals of this season’s competition.
“They haven’t lost at home, so it’s not going to be easy,” adds Hunt. “We’ve profiled some of their players and identified problematic fellows. We, on the other hand have been dealt the biggest blow of not having our two strikers but we have to soldier on.
The two teams played to a goalless draw at FNB Stadium in the first leg back in February in a match that saw Chiefs’ two goal being disallowed by the referees.
“The biggest challenge is having to play an important match like this one without our strikers,” bemoans Hunt. “You need a number 9 in a game like this one. But the situation is what it is so we have to change our structure so we can prepare to play different without a number 9.
Kaizer Chiefs will miss both Samir Nurković and Leonardo Castro this evening due to suspension and injury, respectively. Nurković was given his marching orders last Saturday in Johannesburg against Wydad Casablanca, while Castro fractured his nose on Tuesday during the game against Stellenbosch FC in the DStv Premiership.
“With the game being moved from the earlier communicated time of 1pm in Conakry, the coach says: “We are happy to play in the evening because of the weather conditions. It’s hot during the day so playing at 7pm will be better. I also believe we will be able to deal with the humidity.”
This match will kick off at 19:00 (21:00 SA Time) at the General Lansana Stadium in the capital of Guinea, Conakry. No spectators will be allowed in the stadium. The game will be live on the Kaizer Chiefs Facebook page.
