The knock out stages of the 2010 FIFA World Cup kick off on Saturday and kaizerchiefs.com looks at the weekends four knock out round matches, which begin when South Korea go back to the sight of their opening game victory over Greece, which was The Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Port Elizabeth to play Uruguay. It is the first time that the Korean’s have progressed beyond the group stages of the tournament outside of their own country.

Two times World Champions Uruguay finished on top of Group A which also included Bafana Bafana while South Korea lost just one game on their way to finishing second in Group B.

The USA will be looking for revenge when they take on Ghana at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium in Rustenburg, four years ago ‘The Black Star’s’ defeated the US 2 – 1 during their final group game in Germany to eliminate them form the tournament.

Revenge has been on the mind of the USA’s star player Landon Donovan ever since, Ghana are the only remaining African team at the World Cup and will be hoping to duplicate their result from the 2006 World Cup, and keep the flag flying for Africa by moving in to the ¼ finals.

There is no need to play up the rivalry between Germany and England the two countries have fought each other in two World Wars and their battles have gone onto the football field as well, they have a well documented rivalry in the FIFA World Cup.

They met in the 1966 World Cup Final which England won and four years later Germany eliminated the defending World Champions, there last meeting in a World Cup Finals was in the semi-final of the 1990 World Cup. Germany won the game and went onto to eventually win the World Cup.

When they clash in Bloemfontein on Sunday afternoon it is bound to be a fiercely contested clash, with star players on each side the game is expected to be a physical one. England striker Wayne Rooney will be hoping to open his World Cup account with a goal in the game

The weekends action will be rounded off by a meeting between Argentina and Mexico at Soccer City, the Argentines are the tournament favorites while Mexico have been impressive but could struggle against Diego Maradona’s star studded team who will be spear headed by FIFA World Footballer of the year Lionel Messi.

Matches between these teams are also tempestuous affairs, they met at the same stage of the World Cup four years ago and it took a Super Goal from Maxi Rodriguez to see Argentina knock Mexico out 2 – 1.
