Defender, Tshifiwa Mmbooi has told kaizerchiefs.com that he is going to do all his best to hold on to the right-back position at Chiefs despite the fierce competition he is facing from both Jimmy Tau and Tlou “Spanner” Molekwane.

Nicknamed “Mirror”, Mmbooi was impressive on his debut against Platinum Stars last week. The no nonsense right back had to wait in the sidelines while case between Cosmos and Dynamos was still being heard by the Premier Soccer League. At the end, Cosmos case was dismissed by PSL allowing the player to make his first official appearance in the Chiefs colours.

“I was relieved to play finally following all the problems I went through. I learnt a lot from all the experience and I want to thank the Club for standing by me through that period,” said the soft speaking defender.

“I think I did well but it was not only me but as a team we did well against Platinum Stars. It was a bonus that I was able to be on the winning side on my debut. That game now is water under the bridge as we have to prepare for Celtic,” said Mmbooi.

“We are expecting a tough encounter against Bloemfontein Celtic as they will be playing in front of their vociferous crowd. However we are determined to fight all the way as we cannot afford to drop more points now.”

Mmbooi is aware that for him to hold on his place in the starting berth he will have to work hard “I am a hard worker and I am going to continue working hard and follow the coach’s instructions. I will grab each and every opportunity that I get,” he concluded.
