Tsotetsi looking to renew old friendships

Old friendships will be put to the test on the 25th August when Chiefs welcome Jomo Cosmos to the ABSA Stadium in Durban, for what will be one of many Chiefs home games that will be played in the coming season in Durban.

Muhsin Ertugral will be hoping that his team can continue with the momentum they gained from defeating Benoni Premier United on the opening day of the season, and a win against Cosmos will be Chiefs first for more than two years against them in a league encounter.

In what has become a very tense encounter on the fixture calendar matches between the two teams are tightly contested affairs, with both teams’ defences being kept busy.

This is where Chiefs new recruit Moketi Tsotetsi will be called into action, as he face his former team mates and he will use the insight he has on Cosmos to plot their down fall.

Happy Reunion

Since Tsotetsi joined Chiefs just over a fortnight ago he has been busy preparing for the new season and has not had much time to talk to his former friends, next weeks league encounter between the two teams will give Moketi the opportunity to reacquaint himself with some of his old team mates.

“For me this game could not have come any sooner” said Tsotetsi, he continued further “since moving to Chiefs the only thing on the forefront of my mind has been this game and playing them so early in the season is good for me as this game is out of the way”.

The accomplished defender possess the ability and confidence to keep the likes of Anthony Laffor at bay, and believes that the Chiefs defence will deal with the threat posed by Davies Mwape and Sibusiso Hadebe. “My aim is to ensure that my re-union with Cosmos is a happy one for me, my old team always lift their game against Chiefs but I know them well enough to keep them at bay”.

Extermination job

There are a number of his former team mates who Tsotetsi has a lot of praise for and holds in high esteem, amongst them is the player he refers to as the terminator none other than midfield strongman Dikgang Mabalane.

The acclaimed talents of Mabalane which include tough combative and creative play, have made him one of Cosmos chief assets in the past few seasons.

Tsotetsi feels that Chiefs will need to be on their guard when he has the ball “I always enjoyed defending against him in training games when I was at Cosmos” said Tsotetsi, he further added “Dikgang is not called the terminator for nothing he can mow down any midfield or defence and get the ball up to his teams strikers with ease. I have always admired him and his ability to create chances out of nothing for his team”. Containing the threat of the terminator is a job that Tsotetsi feels he is up to adding “facing Dikgang in a competitive game is a good test for me, I am ready for a dual with him and I will not back out of any tackles and I have the added advantage of knowing how to stop him”.
