The prophets of doom have no room in Amakhosi!
The prophets of doom have no room in Amakhosi!

It doesn’t matter how hard we try to obliterate the Mbesuma factor out of our system - it looks like it will be a nemesis for the duration of the season.

Our scribes and those in the electronic media are worsening the situation by continuously stirring our supporters into emotions.

They are unfortunately succeeding judging from the abuse our management and coaching staff has had to endure over the three games.

Well, I am liberated and may thus never be tempted to enter the fray lest I fall victim of self-pity and remorse over the loss of Mbesuma.

The Vodacom Challenge and the Telkom Charity have come and gone and we did not lift any of those titles.

Granted our hearts are bleeding but may I just engage you to look into the bright side over what has been achieved thus far.

First the coaching staff has reached their objectives of giving all the boys a run and exposure in cup competitions except for those that were nursing injuries.

I am sure they now have some idea of what their intended moves are before the league season commences.

Secondly, the Team Manager has been on a hunting expedition for some local and international talent to bolster the squad.

Now that the first phase that is so misunderstood and often distorted is complete, the team can now look ahead and fit in the last pieces of the Mbesuma jigsaw puzzle once the necessary acquisitions are formalized.

Thirdly, the Celtic match displayed some emerging flow as our boys relentlessly attacked their goalmouth and were just unfortunate to be denied either by the poles and some desperate defending.

In addition, some carefully taken shots came within a whisker of finding the net whilst the heroics of Celtic’s new goalkeeper saved the day.

Although this excites me, I am grossly disturbed by the unending abuse that is levelled against the coach and management after the three games we played.

It is more painful when such abuses come from our supporters who have decided to abandon reason and chose to be destructively emotional in responding to the losses.

In the process, they have fallen head-square into the tactics and strategies of those that continue to create an impression of a Kaizer Chiefs that is dizzy, troubled and fearful after the departure of Mbesuma.

It is such a false creation that energizes profits of doom to condemn their own heroes and sink them into an endless pit of non-recovery.

I just wish that these condemnation could cease and all panic buttons be rested as management is painstakingly tightening all lose ends at the club.

May I challenge you to nip this growing cancer in the bud and for once stop these ungodly tactics that are bent on derailing our preparatory phase.

We have had to deal with a destructive suggestion that our Scara Ngobese has fallen out of favour with the coach hence his non-appearance in Mafikeng.

We have also had to handle rumour that our Manager is tight fisted and does not intend to invest in quality players after some alleged poor showing in the two competitions.

Some corners are even suggesting that we are suffering from a possible “Jabu Pule curse” something unheard of in soccer circles.

These and many others are gradually worming their way into our mindset and may just derail the technical teams’ programme of rebuilding the team.

The truth is, we looked at these two games with anticipation of numerous challenges in both the striking and defence departments.

We can thus rest assured that new signings will be completed and a different Amakhosi will be on full throttle once the league season commences.

We should not forget that we were condemned to failure even before the 2004/5 season ended.

We need not prove to anyone except to patiently trust the judgements made by the coach and his technical staff.

Lastly, the league season seems too tight for our players’ comfort.

In addition the SAA Super Eight is just around the corner and we are once more drawn against the Celtic from Bloem.

Speculation is rife that we are about to falter even before the tournament commences.

Let us not fall into that trap and allow the prophets of doom to play trampoline on our emotions.

We are heading for a battle of courage and I believe with all my soul that the mighty Amakhosi will redeem itself within a very short space of time.

Thanks and welcome to 2005/6 season.
