Thanks Makhosi for showing your support at the annual MACUFE Tournament in Bloemfontein.

The welcoming weather and the electrifying display of football by both teams closed a very interesting cultural programme if conditions are favourable.

I was happy to see many of you in the favourite colours of our team against myriads of the green and white Siwelelel Sa Masele.

Again this troupe was at its boisterous best until the very last whistle of the match; something that we should at least apply in our matches as well. Although we may have been disappointed by surrendering our trophy, I am however happy that we showed maturity in accepting our fate; a true sign of sportsmanship after a frustrating week of admonishing from the PSL’s Disciplinary Committee.

Earlier on the day, I had an opportunity to address a supporters’ meeting at the Caleb Motshabi Sports Centre to iron out a few branch administrative matters.

Several key topics ranging from starting branches, governance, recruitment of supporters, pursuance of social responsibility programmes and many others were ironed out.

Key amongst the topics was obviously on hooliganism; a scourge that we are painstakingly trying to eradicate from our family. The matter was deliberated at length to demonstrate its devastating impact on our players, our brand, business and family as a whole.

Interestingly, a lot of supporters expressed their utter disgust and committed to help head-office in naming and shaming the culprits.

This was indeed a positive outcome of the meeting; a tradition that we should uphold at all times.

TELKOM KNOCKOUT

With the Telkom Knockout draw posting us for an away-clash against Amazulu in Durban, we are once more faced with a challenge to defend our title against a rejuvenated Amazulu.

This is obviously going to turn heads as the clash of the weekend; something for which we should thoroughly prepare.

The first challenge is to agree to a supporters’ meeting either the evening before the match, or the morning of the day of the match again to honour our attempt of addressing the problems around stadium hooliganism.

You may realize that we are under tremendous pressure to demonstrate our willingness to curb the problem; as such we should use every opportunity to engage in dialogue.

Secondly, we should utilise such dialogue to establish the status of our branches in terms of their uniformity in administration, their growth, their influence in the respective communities and their overall responsibility to the Amakhosi brand.

These meetings are therefore important to set those operational standards and will be held throughout the season at any opportune time.

Thirdly, we should implement our recruitment strategies so that we mobilise in unison to ensure a balance demographic representation of our members.

We have constantly spoken about creating a supporters club that is family oriented so that we create a friendly stadium environment every time our team plays at home or is hosted away.

I believe these and many other programmes will help us achieve a common goal of sustaining the gains of the many years of success.

Let me therefore re-invite your fullest support as we re-energise our structures by setting a reinforced agenda of accountability.

By the way the Makhufe loss is water under the bridge as we progress to hosting Platinum Stars on the 16th of October at our beloved Rand Stadium.

The clash against Amazulu in the Telkom Knockout follows immediately.

Our last encounter is an away fixture against Supersport on the 31st of October 2010.

As you can see Khosi, our schedule in October is hectic and calls for a united and reasonable supporter base that can help our Technical Team and our players to once-more reclaim our stature as a number one team in the country.

See ypu at the Rand Stadium and May I wish you love and peace!
