Taking it Eezy with Abia Nale
Taking it Eezy with Abia Nale

In this week’s edition of 'Taking it Eezy', Abia “Mkhuthuzi” Nale takes time to speak to kaizerchiefs.com about his love for reggae music and church.

How would you describe Abia Nale in person?

He is a quiet person who loves people. I am always concerned when I see someone not happy and that will affect me as well. I am also very honest as a person. I believe I am still the same guy that grew up in Vaal despite playing for a big Club like Kaizer Chiefs today.

Your teammates say you can be very serious...

Thing is, I am quiet. I hardly say a word whether we are in the dressing room or after training. I have a lot of respect for everyone, especially my teammates senior or not senior, playing or not playing. I treat all of them the same.

I am told though behind that ‘quietness’ there is a very naughty person...

(laughing) Mhmmm, I do not think I am naughty...look I am very disciplined as a player. Maybe, I know when to be naughty...I can’t say I am not but I have my limitations (he smiles).

Who do you regard as your funniest teammate?

Arthur Zwane! He keeps everyone on his toes with his jokes. I have also learnt a lot from Arthur though together with other senior players in the team.

Who is your roommate when you are away on camp?

Thabang Rooi. Like me, he is very quiet but loves his cup of tea when we are in the camp. He will only eat a barn, have tea and will grab soda water and head to his room. He does not eat anything else. I nearly forgot...he would kill you for Bananas!

You are given an opportunity to put in a ‘special skills program’ with one of the three Kaizer Chiefs Female Celebrity players...between the three, Chomee, Kelly (Khumalo), Sonia Sedibe (Ntombi of Generations). Who would you choose to train?

Without a doubt, Ntombi! I have not watched her playing but she looks like a gem on the field (smiles). She looks like a good trainer and to be a good footballer, you have to love going to the gym. I also like her personality. When are they playing again? I can’t wait to watch them and that would give me an idea on which areas of her game need attention (smiles).

What music do you listen to on your car?

Gospel. I also love Reggae music. (During this interview, Nale requests that kaizerchiefs.com release him as he has to go to Church)

Going to church?

I go to Church most of the times after training back in Vaal, I love Church...Cheers, I will continue this discussion tomorrow (Friday).

(He runs to his car).
