Kaizer Chiefs invited branches and supporters to attend the ASC (Amakhosi Supporters

Club) celebration event on the 1st March. As formerly reported, the Amakhosi had a special

family day at the Dlamini Sports complex in Soweto to celebrate the one year anniversary

of the ASC and its re-launch on the 9 December 2007.

The day’s events included various activities that catered for the branches and

their members and provided a programme for the families and children who attended the

‘fun day’. The importance of supporters and the structures that are put in place

for them was highlighted by the Kaizer Chiefs management. The ASC department worked hard

and tirelessly to put together an event that would give supporters the platform to engage

their favourite football brand off the field of play

Marketing Director, Jessica Motaung, had this to say about the objectives of the

celebration: “It is very important for us to engage our supporters who are an

integral part of the Family. Through the partnership with Vodacom, we were able to take

the event to our people in road shows that started from Thursday where the partnership was

further cemented.

We made sure we made noise on radio and even invited the Yfm and Jozi fm DJ’s to

play against our celebrities which added to the fun atmosphere of the day. It was special

for me to see and talk to our supporters once again and connect with the faces of our

brand!” Motaung added that branches were awarded Kaizer Chiefs branch flags for

signing up members and expressed her excitement at the competitive spirit amongst the

branches as the race for membership was heating up. “Everybody wants to be a member

of this Family’, she said, “It is very coveted indeed and I am really proud of

our newly formed branches that have signed up more members than our more established

branches. The ASC is growing in leaps and bounds and boasts attendance at all our home

games in a bid to continue on a membership campaign.”

ASC benefit partners exhibited in the main hall while Vodacom set up a stage and gig

rig on the main fields as the day unfolded into several smaller events with entertainment,

football games and general activities for the young Khosi’s who attended with their

parents. Supporters and members renewed their membership and new members signed up as the

Amakhosi Faithful came in full force to showcase the Gold and Black that runs through

their veins.

Brown Dash, Dogmore, Masheleni, Nozza and Relo provided entertainment on the day, with

the Youth Development (Kaizer Chiefs U17) curtain raiser that took place before the main

match which featured the Kaizer Chiefs Male Celebrities vs. a Media Select side which

consisted of Yfm and Jozi fm DJ’s as well as Soweto TV presenters.

Kaizer Chiefs and Vodacom hampers were given away to fans and supporters which included

Kaizer Chiefs merchandise as well as Vodacom cell phones and t-shirts and as other goodies

from benefit partners like Nando’s.

Supporters Relations Manager, Cecil Motaung added: “I am very proud of our

branches and their members; we were able to award branches that have only been in

existence for three months for having signed the most members. Our people understand the

importance of being card carrying members.

I would like to say a big thank you to the supporters who braved the storms and rainy

weather to be with us especially those who travelled from far to be with their favourite

Club. We had attendance from the Free State, Limpopo, Pietersburg and KZN as well as our

local branches, but our branches from outside of Gauteng actually seem to be performing

better than the local branches, which is a point to note. We urge our local branches in

Soweto, the Club’s birthplace, to join the race to sign up huge numbers of Amakhosi

supporters. Our supporters truly spread Love and Peace wherever they go!”

Club sponsor Vodacom were very important in the execution of the event in conjunction

with Event organizers, J.A.K.E. Productions and the Kaizer Chiefs Management would like to

express a big thank you to the Club sponsor for coming on board as well as the various

benefit partners who were a part of the day.

Supporters are urged to sign up for their membership and make it known who they

support, to represent their Club and garner numbers for the different branches as Kaizer

Chiefs prepares to embark on a nationwide campaign to sign up all its supporters.

Membership tiers include the following tiers which cater for all Kaizer

Chiefs supporters:

• Kids (R25)

• Youth (R50)

• Classic (R100)

• Silver (R250)

• Gold (R550)
