Stringent security measures are in place for the Soweto derby on Saturday at the Orlando Stadium. Orlando Pirates, Stadium Management South Africa (SMSA) and the PSL teamed up to ensure the safety of thousands of fans.

Tickets are sold out for the clash between Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs and despite not challenging for the league title, both teams enjoy massive support and especially in the place of their origin.

Fans are urged not to go to the stadium if they do not have tickets as security personnel and the police force/metro police will not allow loitering/begging for tickets outside the stadium.

Supporters who have tickets and especially those with VIP tickets are urged to arrive early as traffic is expected to be congested due to road closures.

“Roads will be closed and it will be closely monitored by the police and traffic officials. People without tickets must not even think of coming close to the stadium while those with tickets are requested to come early,” said Jacques Grobbelaar, Director of SMSA.

“Together with the PSL and the clubs we have put plans in place that will work for a game like this. We are confident that everything will run smoothly.”

The following roads will be closed:

Corner of Klip Valley and Armitage

Corner of Mooki and Radebe

Corner of Mooki and Ballenden Street

Corner of Nkom Ya Hlaba and Adams

Corner of Adams and Mofokeng

Corner of Adams and Martha Louw

Corner of Adams and Nzama

Smoking and drinking alcoholic beverages will not be tolerated in the stadium and fans are warned that they can be arrested if they are caught.
