Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper coach Rainer Dinkelacker has welcomed a move by Bafana Bafana goalkeeper coach Grant Johnson to create a closer working relationship and establish better communication with the Amakhosi keeper trainer.

Dinkelacker was invited by Johnson to the Bafana team hotel in Johannesburg ahead of their 2012 CAF African Cup of Nations qualifying game against Egypt.

Speaking of the meeting to kaizerchiefs.comM Dinkelacker jokingly said.

“We spoke for about two hours, when you have goalie coaches getting together the conversation can’t be any shorter”.

On the more serious side of their discussion Dinkelacker said he was pleased to have had the opportunity to sit down with Johnson.

“It was the first time that I have been invited to a discussion with the Bafana goalkeeper coach.

We discussed a number of issues, our philosophy, training techniques and the way we motivate our players. It was a very open discussion and at the end of the day it is beneficial to Itumeleng Khune if the technical team at his club have an open line of communication with that of the national team”.

With the best interest of Khune in mind and with the lines of communication with Johnson opened, Dinkelacker is hoping to keep in touch regularly with the former Manning Rangers and SuperSport United goalkeeper.

Of this he said “we at Chiefs we work with the players on a daily basis so we in a good position to provide information to the national team on the players form and development, our objective at the club is to make sure that the work we do with the keepers sets the groundwork for them to do a good job for the country.

Building on this relationship with Grant Johnson is important for those reasons and it can only have positive outcomes for both parties”.

Dinkelacker also let in that he shared with Johnson a number of the motivation techniques he uses to fire up Khune prior to each game he plays for the Amakhosi.
