Kaizer Chiefs bounced back in style from the midweek blues that saw them losing to SuperSport United on Wednesday to register a fantastic 3-0 victory away to Bidvest Wits on Sunday afternoon.

Coach Vladimir Vermezovic rang changes to the side that lost against SuperSport bringing in Itumeleng Khune, Abia Nale, Mthokozisi Yende, Mandla Masango and the move paid dividends as substitutes, Josta Dladla, Siphiwe Tshabalala and David Mathebula contributed to the home team’s downfall.

Speaking to kaizerchiefs.com after the game, a pleased Vermezovic revealed that the changes had nothing to do with the Wednesday result.

“We rotate players and we felt that some of our guys were a bit tired hence we introduced new faces. I was pleased with the way the guys performed especially in the second half. In the first half the guys seemed to struggle with humidity but we got things right in the second stanza following the introduction of Josta Dladla,” he said.

The Serbian also praised Khune who played his first game in over three months following an injury.

“Itumeleng Khune is number one goalkeeper not only for the Club but for the country as well. It is important that we prepare Khune and make sure that he is in good condition ahead of the World Cup. He has been working very hard at training while Arthur Bartman was doing well. We have five goalkeepers and all are fighting for the goalkeeper spot,” said Vermezovic.

“We are hoping to take it one game at a time now. On Tuesday we are back at training in preparation for the tough game against AmaZulu. It is very difficult to analyze our opponents as they always double their efforts when they play us.

“I am happy that we did not suffer any injuries on this game and we should be ready on Wednesday,” added the Amakhosi coach.
