Amakhosi midfielder Siyabonga Nkosi woke up on Thursday morning to find a television parked by his bedside - the crew, who filmed his every move for the rest of the day, followed him around.

The Chiefs midfielder had a filming crew spend the day with him as part of a television show which begins on the 22nd February titled ‘Get There’, which will air on E-TV and is endorsed by Chiefs sponsors Standard Bank.

As part of the show, a number of well known sports personalities and entertainers like cricketer Makhaya Ntini and entertainers Mafikazolo will have a television crew spend the day with them.

Nkosi’s day on Thursday began with the crew arriving at his house before day break as they followed him through his morning routine. The cameras were with Siyabonga when he went to conduct an early morning coaching session at a Primary School close to his home. It was then off to the training ground for Siyabonga and the crew as they stuck with him through Chiefs training session on Thursday morning, training was followed up with Siyabonga out shopping and he rounded off the day with the crew relaxing at home.

Commenting late on Thursday afternoon about his day spent with camera’s tracking his every move, Siyabonga said, “at first it was a bit hard to get used to the camera being where ever I went. After a while it felt like they were not even there, I really found the experiencing to be an interesting one, for a day I felt like I was on a reality television show like Big Brother or Survivor.”

The idea behind the ‘Get There’ show is to provide motivation and inspiration for young people wishing to fulfil their dreams. Kerry McDonald, producer of the show, added that Siyabonga was the perfect candidate to inspire and motivate young people.

“We were looking to use people for this show who could do a lot to spur on young people to make their dreams become a reality, we found Siyabonga to be just perfect for the job. He was really fabulous to work with when he was at the school conducting the coaching clinic he was very accessible to the children he worked well with them, overall he is a wonderful person and it was great spending the day with him,” McDonald said of the Chiefs player.

The episode featuring Siyabonga is due to be aired on E-TV in late March and will provide fans with an insight into Siyabonga Nkosi’s life, going behind the scenes to see what makes one of South Africa’s brightest young football prospects tick.
