Kaizer Chiefs won their second game in succession as they defeated Mpumalanga Black Aces 2-0 in an Absa Premiership match on the road in Witbank on Wednesday evening.



Knowledge Musona took his goal tally for the season in league competition to nine goals as he scored a brace of goals the first of which coming in the opening minute of the match was a magnificent overhead kick, he scored a second goal nine minutes into the second half.

The opening minute of the game had not yet fully eclipsed when Thomas Sweswe swung the ball goal wards from the left flank, Musona like an acrobat flipped over and with a spectacular overhead kick connected with the ball and hit it past Aces keeper Onyango to give Chiefs the lead with 55 seconds of the match having passed.

Mthokozisi Yende could have doubled Chiefs’ lead in the 6th minute he blazed the ball from around 16 yards from goal over the post, after Kaizer Motaung Junior had managed to win the ball and headed it into his path.

A well worked move by Aces starting with Marco Da Silva threading the ball through to Thokozane Khanyile who in turn picked out Walter Ramulondi with a quick pass along the ground.

Ramulondi blasted the ball at the first time of asking from a distance of 20 yards from goal and beat Chiefs keeper Arthur Bartman but his effort crashed onto the bottom of the right hand upright. This piece of action taking place in the 13th minute.

Onyango had to act quickly and stormed off his line in the 21st minute to head clear a through ball which Letsholonyane chased down, 21’ ball through to Letsholonyane Onyango stormed off his line to head the ball away.

Seven minutes before half time Vusiwe Masondo sent Ramulondi clear down the left with a defense splitting pass, he skipped past Sweswe along the by line he sent the ball across goal but there was no one waiting on the end to turn home the lay- up.

On the stroke of half time Motaung was able to shrug off his marker and from the left rolled the ball towards goal but neither Yende nor Musona were able to get to the ball ahead of Onyonga who dived in and picked it. Chiefs though lead at the break.

Musona completed his brace on 53 minutes after picking up a pass from Jimmy Tau; the Zimbabwean international turned Da Silva inside out before drilling the ball past a grounded Onyango.

On the hour mark Bafo Biyela side footed Marawaan Bartman’s corner from the left which was flicked on into his path towards goal, Bartman stood his ground and with one hand pushed the ball over his post the was called into the action on the hour mark and he managed to push Bafo Biyela’s close range.

Chiefs should have scored a third goal on 64 minutes, substitute Sthembiso Ngcobo hit the ball straight at Dennis Onyango after being played on goal by Letsholonyane.

For Aces Masondo did well to meet a Da Silva free kick in the 75th minute but his effort went just wide of the mark, on ninety minutes substitute Bienvenue Tipa skewed his shot from inside the Chiefs 18 yard area and hit it straight at Bartman.

The win saw Chiefs cut the point’s deficit on league leaders Mamelodi Sundowns to five points who were beaten by Amazulu at home.
