Kaizer Motaung Jr carried with great fortitude South Africa’s national pride when he netted a historic cracker at the Goal4Africa match, which took place at Allianz Arena in Munich, German, on Saturday, 12 July 2008. This fearless striker was invited to partake in a gratifying fundraising encounter that was played in honour of “uTata” Nelson Mandela’s 90th birthday.

“I am immensely humbled and honoured to have played alongside great players like Clarence Seerdof, Michael Ballack and Gennaro Gattuso and others. It also felt good to score a goal for Africa and contribute to the world efforts to alleviate poverty and improve the plight of those less fortunate in Africa” said Motaung.

The Goal4Africa game was a kick off fundraising and awareness campaign that raised funds for educational and development programmes, and aims to promote the development of football, throughout the African continent.

Motaung’s partnership with Micheal Ballack up front produced great football and contributed to the large score line on the day. Kaizer Jr’s performance at the Goal4Africa game will in many ways bring inspiration to the Kaizer Chiefs camp before facing the English and European Champions Manchester United at the Vodacom Challenge encounter, on Saturday, 19 July 2008.

‘I will forever be thankful and honoured to have participated in this game, and I am proud to have contributed to something much bigger through football”, he said.
