Good day to you, and welcome to the Telkom Charity Cup Launch for 2009. We especially greet Dr. Leepile Taunyane, the Chairman of the NSL/Telkom Charity Trust, representatives of Telkom, the teams and all of you who are friends of South African football.

Congratulations firstly, to Dr. Taunyane and the team at Telkom for having made the Charity Cup a legacy event, that our soccer-mad public eagerly anticipate year after year. The growth and the reach of the Telkom Charity Cup have increased exponentially under your guidance and care.

Well done also to our sponsors Telkom, for the way that you have steered the Charity Cup over the past nine years. We are proud to announce that this is the 10th anniversary of Telkom’s sponsorship of the tournament. This is a historic moment for Mzansi’s football family, and we give Telkom our heartfelt congratulations.

This celebration, coming just after a very successful Confederations Cup that has seen unprecedented enthusiasm for the sport, across all the peoples of South Africa, will continue to unify the soccer loving public.

Telkom’s sponsorship of football is helping to pave way towards building a vibrant football industry here. What we have achieved together in football is a forerunner of things to come in other sports.

Indeed, Telkom has been an active partner in the South African football community for years. We have noted their commitment to the sport that encourages young South Africans to pursue their dreams and aspirations. This contract renewal is further affirmation of their continued focus on promoting the sport of football and bringing excitement to its fans.

We are thrilled that Telkom is continuing their longtime support of the Charity Cup event. This renewal is another example of how Telkom continues to be an integral part of soccer family, not only in South Africa, but also world wide, with their support of the FIFA 2010 World Cup.

I thank you.
