Kaizer Chiefs will be without their top marksman from the current season Kaizer Motaung Junior when they take on Black Leopards in Tshwane on Sunday afternoon. A combination of a suspension after he collected his third yellow card of the season and an ankle injury will prevent Motaung from taking to the field on Sunday.

Motaung who has top scored for Chiefs with twelve goals this term is three goals off the top goal scorer in the league, Chris Katongo who left Cosmos during the January transfer window to pursue a career in Denmark.

Kaizer Junior, who collided with former Kaizer Chiefs defender Bevan Fransman during The Amakhosi’s 1-1 draw on Sunday with Moroka Swallows, injured his right ankle during the incident. As a result he was unable to complete the game and was replaced by Louis Agyemang in the 78th minute.

Commenting on Kaizer Junior's injury Chiefs physiotherapist David Milner said on Tuesday “Kaizer has been having a lot of pain in the right ankle, he is also experiencing difficulty being mobile as a result of the pain. What we are doing is giving him a few days to rest and will take it from there, even if he was not suspended for Sunday’s game I still feel that he would not have been in a position to play”. Milner though is confident that Kaizer Junior should be fit in time for Chiefs game against Santos on the 21st April in Cape Town, and he will be able to continue in his quest to catch Katongo.

In other injury news, midfielder Siyabonga Nkosi has resumed with light training after recovering from an ankle injury he first picked up while on national team duty a few weeks ago, during a training game against the Swaziland national team. Nkosi aggravated the injury a week ago in training and has since been resting the injured ankle, he did though display signs that his recovery process is moving along smoothly, by coming through light training on Tuesday morning without any reported problems.

Another Amakhosi midfielder Thabo Mooki who did damage to his hamstring while playing for the Kaizer Chiefs reserves during their 2-2 draw with the Pirates reserves on the 19th March, resumed partial training on Tuesday. The Chiefs medical team are expecting Mooki to resume full training some time with in the course of the week, Mooki has in recent times been battling with a hamstring problem which has affected his availability for matches throughout the season.

Finally, Chiefs will have to do without the services of Zimbabwean international midfielder Tinashe Nengomasha against Black Leopards, as the no nonsense midfielder was sent off during Chiefs draw over the weekend with Swallows.
