Tottenham Hotspurs and England International striker Jermain De Foe took sometime out on Friday, while visiting the St Vincent’s orphanage and spent a few minutes talking to Yusuf Muhammad of kaizerchiefs.com.

Defoe spoke of his visit to the orphanage as well as shared his thoughts on the Kaizer Chiefs players, and his wish to make his tour of South Africa a winning one.

Yusuf Muhammad: The visit to St Vincent’s orphanage what does it mean to you, coming to a place of shelter for disadvantaged children.

Jermain Defoe: It does not just mean a lot to me but to the entire club and every one associated with it, making such a visit helps us to keep in touch with what is happening in the world. The people at St Vincent’s and virtually every one we have met so far on tour have been really friendly, and I must say that I have enjoyed my visit to St Vincents and on the whole I am enjoying the visit to South Africa.

YM: How much do you know about the Kaizer Chiefs players and the team?

JD: To tell you the truth not much but I have watched a couple of their videos since we have been here, so I have been trying to learn as much as I can about them.

YM: On Friday you got to meet the Chiefs players in a social environment have you ever had the opportunity to socialize with your opposition the day before a game in this way before?

JD: (laughs) To be honest never but I have found the Kaizer Chiefs players to be a friendly bunch of guys, I can assure you that it will not be this friendly when we meet on Saturday.

YM: You have had a small taste of the Chiefs fans as a group of them met you at the airport, are you ready to face 55 000 on Saturday?

JD: It was interesting and colourful to see the fans who greeted us upon our arrival, it will be an interesting experience playing front of them and I am looking forward to the experience as I have been told that the Chiefs fans make a lot of noise.

YM: Thanks for your time Jermain.

JD: No problem any time.
