Head of Development, Walter Steenbok has revealed to kaizerchiefs.com that it is all systems go for the Club’s U-19 team invited to participate in the Blue Stars FIFA Youth Cup.

The U-19 team under tutelage of legend, Fani Madida flies to Switzerland on Sunday, 09 May 2010.

Steenbok revealed how the opportunity came for the Club to participate in such a prestigious tournament.

“Our development coach, Doctor Khumalo alerted the FIFA guys that if there is an opportunity for a development team to participate in a tournament in Europe they should contact the Club.

We are delighted that the team gets an opportunity to partake in such a prestigious tournament and also the same trip see us participating in further two tournaments in Holland and Germany.”

“The team we are taking to Europe is more or less the same team that we took to Cape Town for the Metropolitan Cup.

There the boys struggled with different styles of play and we think the games with sides from Switzerland, Holland, Spain, Germany and Brazil are going to help the boys in addressing this.

This is also an opportunity for us to gauge ourselves with the rest of the world from the technical and tactical point of view while building the players mental strength,” added Steenbok.

The team returns to South Africa on the 24 May 2010.
