Kaizer Chiefs 1 (Letsholonyane 26)

Moroka Swallows 2 (Shivambu 18, Ndlela 63)

Caution: Mbooi, Ndlela, Denge

Kaizer Chiefs suffered their sixth defeat of the season when they lost 2-1 to Moroka Swallows in an electrifying game at Orlando Stadium last night.

Lungisani Ndlela won the game for Swallows with a sublime strike in the 63rd minute; this was after a cracking strike from Reneilwe Letsholonyane had cancelled Morgan Shivambu 18th minute strike.

The loss left Chiefs on 8th position in the Absa Premiership log with 14 points after 11 games.

The hosts welcomed, Thomas Sweswe to the starting line up replacing Thabang Rooi while Siphiwe Tshabalala who scored a sublime free kick against Mamelodi Sundowns was given a nod ahead of teenager, Knowledge Musona but it was Swallows who threatened first when Sibusiso Khumalo’s shot rattled the crossbar following a cross from Lifa Tsutsulupa.

They did not wait long though as Sibusiso Khumalo set up for Morgan Shivambu to fire home from close range in the 18th minute.

The Glamour Boys playing in front of their home fans since 12 September where not to be outdone as Soweto-born; Reneilwe Letsholonyane scored a scorcher in the 26th minute. This was after Moroka Swallows defence failed to clear.

He was in the thick of things two minutes later when he forced Greg Itafia who had slightly left his line to tip over the bar as the Amakhosi applied more pressure to the visitors.

It was 1-all as both teams left for change rooms at half time.

Chiefs looking at putting more pressure on the visitors started the second half like house on fire and Letsholonyane should have given his side a lead when his shot went wide from close range.

Then Kaizer Motaung Jr came close twice, first he forced Itafia to parry for a corner. On the second occasion he did beautifully to control his ball with his chest but dragged his shot wide. Motaung would be disappointed with the miss as he had only the goalkeeper to beat.

Swallows that that had their backs against the wall from the start of the second half nearly caught Chiefs on a break as Ndlela forced a superb save out of Arthur Bartman.

Ndlela had a last laugh though as he scored a cracker of a goal after being set up by substitute, Ryan Botha, 2-1 to Swallows.

Vladimir Vermezovic made a double substitution in the 70th minute bringing in Knowledge Musona and Mthokozisi Yende in a place of Kaizer Motaung and Josta Dladla respectively.

The Amakhosi showed a genuine fight towards the end as Nkosinathi Nhleko’s 85th minute strike came off the woodwork following a neat pass from Letsholonyane.

Nhleko who already has three goals under his belt this season was only few metres from the goal line but missed when it looked easier to score.

The Glamour Boys who enjoyed superior possession throughout created more chances in the game and will have to sharpen their goal scoring touch ahead of the game against Golden Arrows at Orlando Stadium next Wednesday.
