The long wait is finally over for millions of Kaizer Chiefs supporters who haven’t seen the team in action for over a month, due to the Africa Cup of Nations tournament which concluded on Sunday in Morocco. Amakhosi return to the field this evening at FNB Stadium to face Lamontville Golden Arrows in the Betway Premiership.
This will be the second meeting between the two sides this season, with Chiefs having edged the first-round clash 1-0 in Durban back in August 2025.
The technical team and the players have been hard at work preparing for the second half of the campaign, with fixtures now coming thick and fast.
On the league table, Chiefs currently sit fourth on 24 points from 13 matches, while Arrows occupy 10th position with 16 points from 14 games.
A few key players will miss out tonight due to injury, including George Matlou, Sibongiseni Mthethwa, and Bradley Cross, while on the plus side, players such as Gaston Sirino and Glody Lilepo have made full recoveries and are available.
Coaches, Khalil Ben Youssef and Cedric Kaze, have opted for a balanced approach as they look to kick-start the remainder of the 2025/26 season on a strong note.
Amakhosi will go for a 4-4-2 formation
Brandon Petersen is the goalkeeper.
In defence, Amakhosi have Aden McCarthy on the left, with Inacio Miguel and Zitha Kwinika working together in the centre. Thabiso Monyane will be on the right of the back four.
The midfield has Lebohang Maboe operating centrally, with Pule Mmodi and Siphesihle Ndlovu on his left and right hand sides, respectively.
Birthday boy, Mduduzi Shabalala will play just behind the strikers.
Flavio Da Silva and Lilepo are in attack.
This evening’s referee is Moses Kheswa. He will be assisted by Tumi Mohlala and Given Letlaka. The fourth official is Moreki Lekwape.
The Betway Premiership match between the Glamour Boys and Abafana Besthende will kick off at 19:30 at FNB stadium in Nasrec. The match will be live on SuperSport’s PSl Channel 202 on DStv and various SABC radio stations. There will be regular updates on the Club’s X (formerly known as Twitter) account, @kaizerchiefs.
