Barely a month after their impressive 2-1 triumph over BC Legends at the Toyota Stadium in Bloemfontein, Kaizer Chiefs Legends will be travelling to Ulundi in Northern KwaZulu-Natal to take on a KwaZulu-Natal Legends team on 7 September at the Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi Stadium.
Chiefs Legends coach, Thabo Mooki, is aiming for a third successive victory, after recent triumphs over Orlando Pirates legends and BC Legends.
“We have been playing good, entertaining football and, importantly, we have been winning,” Mooki ,who is once again hopeful that his team will give their fans a good showing, divulged.
“Where ever we have played the fans have come out to support us. Ulundi won’t be any different and we want to give them another triumph”, the coach added.
Mooki has also given some team news ahead of the game: “Siphiwe Tshabalala picked up an injury in the last game in July, so he is out. We have also rotated and brought in some new faces.”
Of the new inclusions, Mooki added, “Since June last year, we have used 35 different players and we will continue to use more. We welcome Isaac Mabotsa, Jabulani Mendu, Rene Richards and Nkosinathi Nhleko for this game.”
Kick off at 13:00 on Saturday and the teams will play for the Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi Legacy Cup. The game forms part of a tournament that sees Premiership sides, Royal AM and Richards Bay, as well as Eswatini top flight team, Nsingizini Hotspurs, also participating.
Organisers are planning to announce the appearance of a fourth team in the coming week.
The first game between Royal AM and Richards Bay will kick off at 09:00. The second semi-final will be at 11:00, with the Chiefs Legends playing at 13:00, ahead of the final at 15:00.
