Kaizer Chiefs turned Super Stadium to a lecture room when they handed Bidvest Wits University a 2-1 defeat on Saturday night.

Strikes from Abia Nale (25) and Jose Torrealba (60) were enough to shrug off the challenge from Wits who were hoping to undo the defeat they suffered in the hands of the Glamour Boys in this corresponding fixture in the first round.

The win took Chiefs to 40 points, they now move the third spot just behind Supersport United and Orlando Pirates and coach, Muhsin Ertugral will fancy his chances to challenge for league honours this season.

The Glamour Boys who started the game with a 100% record at Super Stadium made their intentions clear as early as the 5th minute when Siphiwe Tshabalala’s well taken volley shaved the crossbar with the opposition goalkeeper; Energy Murambadoro in no man's land.

Chiefs had played four times in the venue before Saturday night winning all four games including a cup fixture played last Sunday.

Ertugral had given highly rated former Chelsea reserve defender, Jeffrey Ntuka a rare start alongside Thabang Rooi in the heart of defence. Ntuka who had not played an official game for over a year did not disappoint as he gave a solid performance the whole night.

Wits on few occasions going forward looked dangerous and came close when Justin Miller’s header rattled the crossbar following a corner from Richard Rantjie.

Chiefs deservedly took the lead in the 25th minute following a goalmouth scramble Nale finished from a close range. It was Nale’s first goal for Amakhosi in eight starts since joining early January.

The Glamour Boys started the second half the same way they had started the first one with Tshabalala, Nale and Tinashe Nengomasha showing deft touches. It was not a surprise when goalscorer, Nale turned a provider giving Torrealba a superb pass before the Venezuelan smashed home the second goal of the game, 2-0 to Chiefs.

Substitute, Kaizer Motaung Jr who replaced Torrealba midway in the second half came close making an immediate impact when his strike went just over the bar in what was a good solo effort from Chiefs’ no. 7.

Tshabalala who had a superb game watched his shot going just over the bar. This was after the Bafana Bafana star had once again nailed opposition defender, Neil Wistanley with another piece of footwork.

Chiefs youth development product Sifiso Myeni who came on as a substitute, managed to get a consolation goal for the visitors on the 90th minute.

The Glamour Boys will return to Super Stadium next week with their heads held high for a meeting against Pretoria University in a Last 16 Nedbank tie.
