The last time the two sides met was in the Absa Premiership in Durban where under controversial circumstances Santos managed to earn a draw. That is however ‘water under the bridge’ as Chiefs aim to win the Cup they failed to defend last year after missing out on top 8 spot. Santos under Botswana born coach, David Bright will not be pushovers though as the side has transformed in the past year. Santos played enterprising football last season finishing third in the league.

Muhsin Ertugral speaking to kaizerchiefs.com said the game against Santos will not be an easy one as they do not know what to expect from the sometimes stubborn Cape Town side.

“It is not going to be an easy game because we have not seen them play since last season, while on other hand they have seen us playing for the past four weeks. We are fully confident though that we are going to do well. The boys are focused. We worked on possibilities this week, worked on standard situations. We will have a last session this afternoon to polish tactical aspects of the game. Itumeleng Khune will miss the game after getting a red card in our last game last season” he said.

The Glamour Boys have already featured in more than six games and there have been suggestions that the side is fatigued but Ertugral refuted that, “That would be an excuse. We have had balanced sessions to ensure that the team does not suffer from playing many games before the start of the season.”

Meanwhile, Ertugral revealed to kaizerchiefs.com that the Club is still looking to sign an international striker before the transfer window closes, “We are still searching for a striker and we are currently looking at one at training. That is all I can say at this stage. We will see what happens in the next couple of days.”
