Bulu looking for game time

With ten days between matches Chiefs kept busy on Wednesday afternoon by taking on a team from the University of the North West at the Kaizer Chiefs Village in Southern Johannesburg, it was a comfortable 5-0 win for the Amakhosi who fielded an under strength team.

Arthur Zwane found a goal while there was a brace for both Thuso Phala and Tshepo Bulu, with the latter now looking forward towards making his debut for The Amakhosi some time before the end of the next season.

Bulu, who joined Chiefs at the start of the current campaign was sidelined for almost five months earlier in the season through injury, has spent most of his first season on the treatment table. Having made a recovery from his injury he is hopeful of making his first team debut any time soon and believes in so doing he will go into the pre – season with renewed confidence.

University graduation

Talking to kaizerchiefs.com about his two goals against the University of the North West on Wednesday the 23-year- old Soweto-born striker said, “as I am not playing first team football I need to use the opportunities given to me in these friendly matches to make an impression as well as use it to improve my match fitness. Getting the two goals against the University of the North West was good and I must ensure that I build from here, and do the same in the next friendly match that I play in”.

Debut desire

Bulu was not expecting much game time during his first season with Chiefs. Amongst his objectives in his rookie season was to play in a couple of matches, that though was hampered as a result of his early season injury. With the season winding down he is hoping to feature in one of Chiefs remaining five league games of the 2007 – 2008 season, as he added.

“The injury I picked up in August really put me quiet a while back in terms of where I needed to be in terms of my playing objectives, those kinds of things are part of the game of soccer. I suppose it is how you overcome those set backs that will determine how well you progress over the next few seasons; my aim for what is left of this season is to make my debut for the team. At the moment that is a psychological hurdle which I feel for many reasons I would like to over come in the next month or so, really it is up to me to work hard in order to ensure that I fulfil this objective”.
