Under-19 Captain, Lucky Baloyi has promised an improved performance from him and his teammates in the Culture Cup 2010 to kick off in Germany this evening.

The young Amakhosi side that first competed in a tournament in Switzerland, then in Holland where they finished fourth, tonight they come up against Werder Bremen of Germany in their first match.

“The FIFA/Blue Stars Tournament in Switzerland was very tough for all of us especially our first game against champions, FC Basel.

Even though we drew the match we should have done better. Then we did not do well in the following games. I think this had to do with the fact that we were not used to the conditions,” said the player known to his teammates as “Sheriff” speaking to kaizerchiefs.com on Wednesday night.

“We improved a lot in Holland beating one of the top sides. We came to Germany in high spirits having finished fourth in the previous tournament.

We are more settled now and it is important that we build on the performance we put against top sides in Holland. We are determined to compete and win when we face Wader Bremen on Thursday,” added the no nonsense utility player with confidence.

Meanwhile, Team Physio Martine Human has revealed to kaizerchiefs.com that there have been no injuries in the team despite playing back-to-back tournaments in different countries.

“I attribute this to the level of conditioning of our boys. It must also be said that the tournaments have been structured well allowing the players to rest in between games.

The weather was not good in Switzerland where it rained at times, in Holland it was cold but here in Germany there is little bit of sun so the guys should be able to do well in these conditions,” she said.
