Kaizer Chiefs midfield maestro, Thabo “Tsiki-tsiki” Mooki was last weekend honoured by the Club’s supporters in Cape Town for his loyal service to the team since joining in 1994.

This was a second honour for the Moletsane born midfielder after he was a recipient of the Chairman’s Special Award back in June last year. The award was handed over to the player by Chairman Kaizer Motaung.

Chairperson of Kaizer Chiefs Supporters in Western Cape, Lindaman Xeji paid a glowing tribute to the Club’s no.12.

“We are very thankful for what you have done for the Club since joining as a youngster in 1994,” he said.

“We know that sometimes things have not gone your way but you never ran to the media. We want you to know that you remain in our hearts through thick and thin. Please continue to share the Club’s culture with the younger players in the team. Thank you Thabo,” added the Chairperson.

The event to honour the current longest serving player in the Amakhosi team took place at the Club’s camping hotel in Cape Town and was attended by the Football Manager, Bobby Motaung, Supporters Relations Manager, Cecil Motaung, Technical Team led by coach, Muhsin Ertugral and the traveling team led by captains, Tinashe Nengomasha and Arthur Zwane and the supporters.

“I am reminded of the time we won the Mandela Cup back in 2001. Thabo was a kingpin in our team and continues to offer a lot in the Club. I am hoping that Thabo is going to continue with his work even after he hangs up his boots. He has to be kept in the Club structures to instill Club’s culture to the next generation of players,” said Muhsin Ertugral with a smile.

Short of words, Thabo thanked the supporters for the gesture, “Thank you. I am grateful to be a recipient of this honour and the fact that you are doing it for the first time makes it more special. I want to thank the Management, Technical Team, the players past and present and the supporters for all the support they have given me over the years. Ndibulela kakhulu,” he said.

Football Manager, Bobby Motaung who also paid tribute to the player said Thabo was a good example to the current generation. He also thanked Provincial Executive and the supporters for the support they have continued to give to the team through good and bad times.
