In another first for South African football Castle Premiership log leaders Kaizer

Chiefs have organized an Executive Golf Day for their stakeholders and other top business

executives and politicians, scheduled for Friday, 21 May 2004 at the Royal Johannesburg

& Kensington Golf Club.

Speaking from the club’s headquarters in Naturena, club’s Communications

Manager Putco Mafani said his club was aware of the enormous popularity of the sport,

particularly among the Black middle class and elite.

“As is traditional with the sport in the corporate sector, significant deals are

often initiated and negotiated on the golf course and we have realized the valuable

opportunity this golf phenomenon would present to our sponsors, partners and other

business associates, to begin to network and improve their corporate interaction and

loyalty.

We are thrilled with the response we have got from our partners and other businesses

who, obviously are serious about lifestyle marketing and long term professional

relationships with leaders in business, sport and politics” said Mafani.

Mafani said the biggest attraction will be a ‘Four Ball’ consisting of Doctor

Khumalo and Ace Khuse with two other people to be nominated by the club and this

‘Four Ball’ will carry a special prize to be contested between the two assistant

coaches.

Of note is the participation by some of the club’s players who play golf during

their leisure time. Those players are Brian Baloyi, Rowen Fernandez, Cyril Nzama, Stanton

Fredericks, and Shoes Moshoeu, to mention but a few.

Carol Shaw Memorial Centre, a Zuurbekom institution that rehabilitates youth with

chemical substance abuse addictions and running a huge HIV/Aids support division would

benefit from the nett proceeds of the event.

“Our commitment to our social responsibilities, particularly where there is a need

to assist with HIV/Aids orphaned children and traumatized women is unwavering and may be

this humble assistance will go a long way in giving them hope for a better life” he

said.

As a result of the positive response from these sponsors and suppliers, there will be

prizes galore for all golfers participating on the day.

Event management company Jake Productions have been commissioned to organize the event

and make it a memorable day for all golfers and other participants.

The company management has given a slogan to this event: “Make a tangible

connection with your market” and indications are that their offices are up for a

hectic week with all enquiries about the event.
