Amakhosi Shakers set the record straight

Posted in News on Feb 17, 2006.

Kaizer Chiefs saw the launch of their cheerleading squad at the first Derby of the 2005/2006 season against Orlando Pirates on the 29 October 2005.

It was on this day that the Amakhosi Shakers made their debut in front of a capacity crowd of about 80,000 football fans at the FNB stadium. The girls cheered Kaizer Chiefs on to a well deserved win over the Buccaneers at Kaizer Chiefs’ home ground.

The Amakhosi Shakers, as they are affectionately known, set the sidelines ablaze as the Amakhosi faithful admired the girls in their sexy Black and Gold cheerleader outfits. Kaizer Chiefs made history by being the first South African football team to make cheerleaders a reality in football.

Kaizer Chiefs are always in the forefront and much more can be expected from the current PSL Champions. As trendsetters, Kaizer Chiefs has established itself as the largest supported sports brand in the country (research done by Markinor). The Amakhosi Shakers chosen to don the beautiful colours of Black and Gold will stand out wherever they go.

The original squad is made up of 14 young ladies who cheer the Glamour Boys at their home games at the FNB stadium. Look out for the girls who often appear in their Kaizer Chiefs cheer uniforms and who are stylishly dressed by Verb who have a new range in selective Edgars and Dunns outlets nationwide.

So congratulations to Pirates, Swallows and Sundowns as you follow in the footsteps of a giant, well done on recognizing the leader to follow!

Remember, we are Gold and Rocking!!!

Love and Peace!
