Castle Premiership League challengers Kaizer Chiefs are mobilising their supporters and all South African soccer lovers to spend the next few hours ahead of the FIFA announcement praying for the country to receive a favourable vote for hosting the biggest football showpiece in the year 2010.

Speaking from the club’s headquarters in Naturena, Putco Mafani the spokesperson said the 2010 is an opportunity of a lifetime for South Africans at large, ”When (Sepp) Blatter announces ‘Afrique De Sud’ on Saturday, that will be the beginning of football’s contribution towards a better life for all South Africans.

"With the jobs on the offering, because of the construction and renovations our telecommunications, roads, transport, accommodation and stadiums infrastructure, surely we, in soccer will be putting our signature on the people’s contract towards the alleviation of poverty and creation of jobs. South Africa will buzz with the euphoria that will give us all a lift and help us address the imbalances of the past."

At various venues around Gauteng and through out the whole country, South Africans will await anxiously the result of the voting to be announced and club supporters are expected to don their uniform, take their vuvuzelas and blow the prayers in football style. In Joburg the council and T-Musicman has invited club supporters to the 2010 bash at the Mary Fitzgerald Square in Newtown where some of the country’s top artists will performing. Big guns such as Jonas Gwangwa, Jimmy Dludlu, Tshepo Tsola, Mzwakhe Mbuli, Johnny Clegg, Vicky Sampson, Rebecca Malope, Gloria Bosman, Thandiswa Mazwai, Phuz’khemesi and Bongo Maffin will be sharing the stage.

In Soweto the Johannesburg council has assembled the likes of Alaska, Mapaputsi, Pitch Black Afro, Loyiso & Mzambiya and many more to ‘rock’ the Mofolo Park from as early as 10H30.

As the nation speaks with one voice Kaizer Chiefs called on their supporters to make themselves heard through visible participation and vuvuzelas, “This is a cry to FIFA to hear our voice and to wish our leaders in Zurich God’s wisdom as they finalize their presentation to the FIFA committee substantiating once again, South Africa’s readiness to host the Fifa Soccer World Cup 2010”, Mafani the clubs’ spokesperson said.

After suffering a rather humiliating defeat at the hands of their league hoodoo side Supersport United on Wednesday, Amakhosi host Zulu Royals at the FNB stadium at 4pm where they hope to celebrate the announcement in style by redeeming their pride and strengthen their league race at the expense of their struggling visitors.
