Kaizer Chiefs spent most of Saturday afternoon with victims of xenophobic attacks on 31st May at the Jeppe Police Station. Club officials along with some Kaizer Chiefs celebrities and J.A.K.E. Productions staff packed heaps of clothes, tinned food, mealie meal and baby products into bags that were taken to the Police station. The goods were distributed while the majority of the clothes were packed away to be distributed to the victims on arriving at a new location in Germiston on Sunday, 1st June.

Victims who were housed at the Station premises include foreign nationals from Malawi, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Congo and DRC. Victims include women, children and families who have been displaced and have no place they can call home.

Kaizer Chiefs officials described the experience as humbling and really difficult to see, as Jessica Motaung, Marketing Director, said, “I really think we need to help where we can, seeing the faces behind the pain gives you another perspective, it was really good to come here and be with these victims. We could only provide and give what we had, but we made sure that those included food, blankets, clothes and some baby products to assist the mothers!”

Kaizer Chiefs wanted to provide some relief to these victims and get the rest of the football fraternity to stand up and do something! All Kaizer Chiefs fans and supporters are therefore urged to put some food packs together, gather clothes and blankets and share this winter as these victims begin again and start their lives again.

“I think it is important to remember that Kaizer Chiefs is a world recognized brand, we have supporters in the African continent, some of our people have found themselves as victims of these atrocious attacks! Come on South Africa, show that you care! Stop this violence and take a stand, we are a not a violent people, we are people of Love and Peace!!”
