Three of the Kaizer Chiefs youth development academy sides won through to their respective finals in the 2026 SAFA Gauteng Development League (GDL) at Balfour Park over the weekend.
The U14s held their nerve to oust Kathorus Hyper Academy 6-5 on penalties after their semifinal ended 1-1 on Saturday. They will face Highlands Park U14s in the final at Balfour Park next Saturday, 28 February, kicking off at 10:00.
Unfortunately, the U15s were unable to emulate that feat, going down 2-0 to Mamelodi Sundowns in a closely contested encounter.
However, on Sunday, Amakhosi restored some measure of pride by knocking out their Masandawana counterparts 1-0 to reach the final in the U17s age-group, before the U19 competed a very satisfying weekend by winning their semifinal, also against Sundowns, 3-1 on penalties following a 2-2 draw.
This coming Sunday, 1 March, also at Balfour Park, the U17s will play Siwelele in their final at 9:00, followed by the U19 final between Amakhosi and RESA, which kicks off at 13:00.
Good luck, boys, We are behind you all the way!
In the DStv Diski Challenge (DDC), Amakhosi drew 2-2 with Richards Bay at Dobsonville stadium on Saturday which maintains their fifth place in the standings on 28 points after 19 rounds. Their next fixture is away to Sekhukhune United on Saturday, 28 February.
