Toyota South Africa Motors (TSAM) and Kaizer Chiefs have once again teamed up to bring SA’s gamers more epic esports action! The Glamour Boys are back for season 3 of one of the Toyota Gaming Engine’s most popular online tournaments; TTGE Kaizer Chiefs Virtual Chief Challenge.
Five hundred and twelve (512) of Mzansi’s Amakhosi-obsessed gamers will have an opportunity to play against each other as Kaizer Chiefs in FIFA 23 for the number one spot, and the R10 000 cash grand prize it comes with. The 1st and 2nd runners-up will go home with R3 500 and R1 500 cash respectively.
TTGE Kaizer Chiefs Virtual Chief Challenge S3 will run over 6 weeks. Over the first 4 weeks, there will be 4 qualifier rounds in which 128 players go head-to-head in single elimination matches. The best 4 players from each qualifier round will progress to the top 16, where they will play for a spot in the finals. The 8 players that emerge from the top 16 will then clash in the quarterfinals to see who progresses to the semifinals, and ultimately gets to play in the grand final for their share of R15 000 cash.
The tournament’s winner will not only walk away with R 10 000.00 cash, but they will also get an opportunity of a lifetime to visit the Kaizer Chiefs Village and play against one of the four Amakhosi players for the title of the Ultimate Chief of all Chiefs! The four Amakhosi players will not have it easy as they will play against each other in a knockout playoffs system to determine who will face the online winner.
“Kaizer Chiefs is one of the most iconic football teams on the continent. As their proud vehicle partner, it only felt right that we extended our partnership into the virtual world with our Toyota Gaming Engine. It’s no surprise that TTGE Kaizer Chiefs Virtual Chief Challenge is growing from strength to strength in its 3rd season. I’m looking forward to seeing who comes out on top this time, online champion or Amakhosi player,” says Glenn Crompton, Vice President of Marketing at Toyota South Africa Motors.
