Amakhosi will line up on this rainy Sunday afternoon against Durban City in a pivotal Betway Premiership encounter with steadfast determination. The Soweto giants are desperate to secure their first three points of the second round, having suffered defeats in their last three outings.
The home side will be hoping for another three points against City, after beating them 1-0 in the reverse fixture in Durban.
Matchday 19 brings enforced changes for Chiefs, with Nkanyiso Shinga sidelined through injury after making his debut in last week’s match against another KwaZulu-Natal based side, Richards Bay. Aden McCarthy and Sibongiseni Mthethwa are also unavailable after accumulating four yellow cards each, ruling them out of today’s clash. The last forced change is that of Ethan Chislett who is out with a hamstring strain. These absences have prompted four changes to the starting lineup, along with three tactical adjustments from the technical team – bringing the total number of changes to seven.
McCarthy, Mthethwa, Shinga, Gaston Sirino, Asanele Velebayi, Ethan Chislett and Flavio Silva are replaced by Zitha Kwinika who is back from suspension, Inacio Miguel, who returns from injury, Siphesihle Ndlovu, Mduduzi Shabalala, Glody Lilelpo, Ashley Du Preez and Wandile Duba
Notably, Mfundo Vilakazi is also back after his injury, and the young goalkeeper Takalani Mazhamba sits on the bench for the first time.
Heading into this fixture, Chiefs are sixth on the log standings with 30 points from 18 matches, while Durban City are placed fourth with 32 points after 20 games.
It will again be a 4-3-3 formation for the Phefeni Glamour Boys.
Bruce Bvuma is the goalkeeper.
On the left of defence is Cross, with Miguel and Kwinika at centre-back, while Solomons will run on the right.
Maboe is the holding midfielder. Ndlovu is back and will work with Tshabalala in the creative roles.
On the wings Amakhosi will have Du Preez on the left and Lilepo on the right.
The striker is Duba.
Kwinika will wear the armband.
The referee is Olani Kwinda. His assistants are Thamagi Sebati and Modisa Moretsi. The fourth official is Kgara Mokoena.
Amakhosi’s 19th Betway Premiershp match of the season against Durban City starts at 15:30 at FNB stadium in Nasrec.
The match will be live on SuperSport’s PSL channel 202 on DStv and various SABC radio stations. There will be regular updates on the Club’s X (formerly known as Twitter) account, @kaizerchiefs.
