It’s all systems go for the 2026/27 Betway Premiership season as Kaizer Chiefs kick off their campaign away to newly-promoted Kruger United FC, winners of last season’s Motsepe Foundation Championship. The match will be played at the Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit.

This fixture is a landmark occasion for Amakhosi, with head coach Fernando Da Cruz taking charge of his first official game. After Chiefs finished third last season, expectations are high among millions of supporters, and Da Cruz will be determined to secure maximum points and set the tone for the campaign.

Kruger United, a relatively unknown force to many in the top flight, will be eager to make their mark after a strong showing in the NFD. They are bolstered by the presence of Kaizer Chiefs’ Rwandan international goalkeeper Fiacre Ntwari, who has joined the Mpumalanga-based side on a one-season loan.

Chiefs’ first formation of the season is 4-4-2.

Coach Da Cruz’s first starting lineup sees Brandon Petersen in goal. He will also wear the captain’s armband.

In defence, Reeve Frosler is positioned on the left, Zitha Kwinika and Inacio Miguel form the central pairing, while Thabiso Monyane takes up the role on the right.

The midfield is anchored by Lebohang Maboe in the holding position, with Siphesihle Ndlovu and Ethan Chislett operating just ahead of him. Mfundo Vilakazi is the attacking midfielder.

Flavio Da Silva and Luke Baartman lead the line as the main strikers.

The officials for the match are referee Sikhumbuzo Gasa, assisted by Khamusi Raswimisani and Kgara Mokoena, with Sanele Madlhope serving as the fourth official.

The Betway Premiership match between the Glamour Boys and the Village Boys will commence at 20:00 at Mbombela stadium in Nelspruit.

Supporters who are not at the venue can follow the action live on SuperSport’s PSL Channel 202, with regular updates provided on Kaizer Chiefs’ X (formerly Twitter).
