Kaizer Chiefs Reserves won their third game on the trot when they beat TS Galaxy Reserves in the DStv Diski Challenge fixture played on Saturday morning. The exciting match was played at the FNB Stadium.
The first half was a tense affair with most of the play concentrated in the midfield. It ended 0-0 much to the frustration of the Amakhosi bench. The half time pep talk paid dividends for coach Arthur Zwane with Happy Mashiane responding with immediate effect after resumption. His cross was deflected into the net to make it 1-0 in the 46th minute. A lapse of concentration against the run of play allowed TS Galaxy back into the game with Ndumiso Xulu equalising to make it 1-1 in the 70th minute.
Chiefs threw everything on attack looking for an immediate response only to be caught with a quick counter with Lungile Mabena slicing through to give TS Galaxy the lead in the 75th minute.
Zwane couldn’t take any of it making two quick changes with Sihle Mbele coming on Rahim Milazi and Samkelo Zwane replacing Mduduzi Shabalala. Shabalala made his Reserves team debut and just returned from the U17 Cosafa tournament where he earned a Player of the Tournament Award.
The changes paid dividends when Keletso Sifama equalised with a scramble in the goal mouth to make it 2-2 in the 80th minute.
Still Zwane rallied his troops and overheard from the touch line screaming, “guys we can’t lose this game.” The young Amakhosi responded as Mashiane settled the score with an 87th minute winner much to the joy of the Chiefs bench.
To conclude his puzzle, Zwane pulled Kamohelo Hoala off for the nippy Siphesihle Tati at the death.
