Kaizer Chiefs Reserves beat Polokwane City Reserves 2-1 in the MultiChoice Diski Challenge on Sunday morning. The match was staged at the Dobsonville Stadium in Soweto.

Chiefs Reserves took control of the proceedings from kick-off. Coach Arthur Zwane’s charges were industrious and were a marvel to watch with a crisp passing game. Sabelo Radebe in midfield and striker Lebohang Lesako were chief instigators with their combination play.

It was no surprise when Lesako opened the scoring in the 9th minute. Polokwane City Reserves retaliated with a 40th minute equaliser through a long-range cross. Goalkeeper Bontle Molefe miscalculated the cross and in the process colliding with the upright which led to his substitution due to injury. Bohlale Hleza stepped in to man the goal posts.

In the 72nd minute, Zwane made changes with Tshepo Mohlala making way for Rahim Milazi to add firepower in the strike force. The change paid immediate dividends with Milazi’s introduction piling pressure until the resilience of City started showing cracks.

Keletso Sifama continued his scoring form with a winner in the 81st minute of the game.

Chiefs Reserves were now in full control running rings around City Reserves who were not willing to give in.

In the 82nd minute, to stabilise things Zwane took our striker Sifama for midfielder Samkelo Zwane.

The four minutes added on could not serve City Reserves to salvage something from the match.

The young Amakhosi have collected nine points from six games played.
