Kaizer Chiefs Reserves will host Bidvest Wits Reserves in their second match of this season’s MultiChoice Diski Shield on Sunday, 7 April 2019.
Amakhosi go into this encounter full of confidence after convincingly walloping Highlands Park in their opening fixture played in Thohoyandou on Sunday.
Chiefs won 3-1 courtesy of Given Thibedi’s spot kick (47th minute) and Reamohetswe Lekoatsa’s brace (81’, 91’).
“We created a lot of chances, but didn’t convert them,” Zwane reflected on that win. “We started very slow, which was maybe due to the break of four weeks.
“We increased the tempo and our performance improved considerably in the second half – we could have scored even more if we would have finished better. I told the team afterwards that we really need to become more clinical.”
“It is important to play well,” said Zwane, “we want to retain the Shield title, more so because we didn’t achieve one of the objectives this season, which was to win the MDC.”
Back to this weekend, the Chiefs Reserves side coach concluded: “Playing Wits is going to be another difficult match. Wits will do what they usually do – just sit back and try to catch us on the counter. Most teams do that, because they know we are a difficult team to challenge us pound for pound.”
The match between Amakhosi and the Clever Boys is scheduled to take place at Dobsonville Stadium. Kick-off is at 12:00.
Entrance to MultiChoice Diski Shield games is free.
