Giyani Stadium

Sunday 11th September 2005

Kick-off 15h15pm

Match Report:

Arthur Zwane struck a brace to ensure a comfortable 2-0 victory for the Amakhosi against Dynamos in Giyani, with a goal in either half Zwane ensured that Chiefs take home the three points.

A game played in front of a filled to the rafters Giyani Stadium saw the Amakhosi almost having to chase the game when on 18 minutes Jimmy Tau was dispossessed on the edged of the 18 yard area and the ball found former Amakhosi man Frank Makua whose delightful chip beat Rowen Fernandez and as it raced goal wards Jimmy Tau turned from villain to hero as he cleared the ball off the line.

In truth that was Dynamos' best chance as the Amakhosi began to take control of the in a ten minute period of total dominance. First Ivorian player Sere Djiehoua knocked over the Dynamos defense only for Arthur Bartman to thwart him at the last, four minutes later Djiehoua saw his powerful header miraculously saved by Bartman from a well taken Scara Ngobese corner.

The Amakhosi didn’t have to wait long six minutes later Thabo Mooki's wicked cross from the right deceived the Dynamos defense but not Arthur Zwane who controlled the ball and shot first time to beat Bartman and give the Amakhosi a well deserved lead. In the second half Chiefs once again did all the running with Dynamos trying to play catch up as number of Chiefs players came close to doubling the lead.

Once again the burly Ivorian Djiehoua proved to be much more than just a handful for the Dynamos defense who had problems keeping him at bay. The Amakhosi’s best chance of the half fell to Derrick Spencer who lobbed Arthur Bartman only to find another former Chiefs player Rodney Thobejane on hand to clear off the line.

With time winding down Chiefs made sure of the win when Ngobese broke off a Dynamos corner and laid off the ball to John Shoes Moshoeu who played a neat ball to Arthur Zwane who beat the on rushing Bartman to double the lead.

With three points under the belt the Amakhosi travel to Durban for their next game against Golden Arrows on Wednesday and than face Mamelodi Sundowns at FNB Stadium next Sunday.
