Veteran midfielder, Arthur Zwane has hung up his boots as a player following almost 10 glittering years with the Glamour Boys. Football Manager, Bobby Motaung on Monday afternoon, revealed this to kaizerchiefs.com.



“10111” as the player was nicknamed by Kaizer Chiefs faithful joined the Club in July 2000 in a highly publicized move. He joined Kaizer Chiefs from Tembisa Classic as part of an exchange deal that included the late Lesley Manyathela joining Orlando Pirates. He was at his best as the Glamour Boys won the Mandela Cup in 2001 and helped the Club to win two league titles in 2003/2004 and 2004/2005 seasons.



“The Club is grateful to Arthur (Zwane) for the contribution he made as a player on the field. His discipline is second to none and he will now be working with the first team Technical Team and Development until the end of the season. Zwane follows on the footsteps of other players like Ace Khuse, Ntsie Maphike, Doctor Khumalo and many others who joined the coaching department after years of service for the Club. We are committed in supporting him to get coaching qualifications like we have done with the others,” added Motaung.



Zwane made 244 appearances for the Glamour Boys since making his debut against Bidvest Wits University (previously known as Wits University) on 22 July 2000 thanked the Club for the support since starting his career at Naturena.

“It has been an honour for me to don the gold and black jersey from day one. I am grateful for the support I received from the Management, the fans, and the former and current players including coaches for all the support they have given me. I am looking forward in starting a new chapter in my life and I welcome the challenge with both hands,” said the 36-year-old Zwane.



“I am also going to use the opportunity to impart my knowledge to the upcoming generation. I am, of course, looking forward to developing myself as a coach,” said Zwane adding that he welcomes the opportunity to work with the Kaizer Chiefs Technical Team.
