Young Chiefs gear up for Engen Challenge defence

Kaizer Chiefs U17 will be hoping to defend the Engen Knockout Challenge they won with style in 2009 when the tournament kick off from the 1st to the 3rd October 2010 at Marks Park in Johannesburg.

The young Amakhosi have been drawn in what looks like a ‘tricky’ Group B with Southerns FA Select, SAFA Sedibeng and St Peter’s Schools Select. The tournament includes the likes of Orlando Pirates, SuperSport Tottenham Academy, Bidvest Wits, Balfour Alexandra, Moroka Swallows, Mamelodi Sundowns and many more.

U17 coach Doctor Khumalo told kaizerchiefs.com that preparations for the tournament have been going well, “We have started the season on a high note and we beat Wits Juniors 2-0 this past weekend. The teams will be looking at unsettling us as defending champions but I have no doubt that we have once again assembled a good squad to give us positive results in the tournament. The emphasis at this level is not winning,” he said.
