As another year unfolds, we take time out to empathise with the families of supporters who lost their lives on that tragic day in 1991. It was from a friendly match on 13 January between Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates at the then Oppenheimer Stadium in Orkney that 42 vibrant souls, fervent fans, passionate supporters did not return home.

For 34 years, we have held their memories close, and the pain of that day still echoes in the hearts of many. In the face of tragedy, together with our supporters, we remain resilient, forever united in remembrance. We extend our love and support to the families impacted by this loss, acknowledging that the journey of healing is ongoing.

In honour of those we have lost, we dedicate each game to the spirit of our fellow football supporters. Their passion for the beautiful game and unwavering loyalty to their teams remind us of the profound impact that sport can have on our lives. Together, we cherish their memories and reaffirm our commitment to creating a safe and welcoming environment for all fans.

Let us stand together, not just in grief, but in celebration of the lives lived and the bonds forged within the two groups of supporters. Each match represents a tribute, each cheer a reminder of the collective spirit that unites us all. In memory of the 42 supporters we lost during the Orkney Disaster, we will continue to play with heart, and forever honour their legacy on and off the field.
