Speaking to www.kaizerchiefs.com after the final training session ahead of Sunday’s DStv Premiership encounter against Royal AM at the Harry Gwala stadium in Pietermaritzburg, Kaizer Chiefs coach, Cavin Johnson hinted at the possibility of giving the Amakhosi Faithful a glimpse of one of the potential future stars of the Club:
On the week’s preparations:
It has gone well. I think the boys look good after four weeks of a mini pre-season. Our first game back was postponed but now we are here in KwaZulu-Natal to play Royal AM. We had a slight hitch because we were delayed on the plane, but that is behind us and the boys are ready. They are well prepared and determined to go out tomorrow and put on a good performance as Kaizer Chiefs. Our mission is to come home with three points as a gift to our magnificent loyal supporters who are always here to greet us at the airport when we land in Durban.
On what to expect from Royal AM:
From what I have seen in the media, they are unable to sign players and appear to have lost a few during the transfer window. However, I still expect them to be up for the match and give their best to be competitive, so we are not taking anything for granted and are fully focused on being at our best.
State of the Amakhosi squad:
Apart from the long-term injuries, the only player unavailable is (Edmilson) Dove, who picked up a knock during the Afcon. We are pleased to have Keagan (Dolly) back in the team, and Ashley (Du Preez) is back to full fitness, so on that front, we are satisfied with the players at our disposal.
New face in the team?:
Oh yes, Mfundo (Vilakazi) is in the match day squad and let’s hope he can get some minutes tomorrow.
