Muhsin Ertugral has described his team’s narrow 1-0 win over Golden Arrows as a workman like victory, and is just pleased with the fact that they held out for a win under very trying circumstances on Wednesday afternoon.

While Ertugral was not too happy with the way the Amakhosi played in the second half, he emphasized the point to kaizerchiefs.com that the important element at this stage of the season was for his team to win matches.

Wednesday’s victory has put Chiefs within sight of the top eight and a win in nine days time, when they host arch rivals Orlando Pirates should get Chiefs into the top eight.

Ertugral has told his team to be ready for three more battles against Pirates, Celtic and Leopards and is looking for them to play the same kind of inspired and gritty football that they did against Arrows.

Too defensive

Ertugral let his charges know that their second half performance against Arrows was not one that he was particularly happy with, after the midweek afternoon game and also let kaizerchiefs.com into his dissatisfaction. “Credit to the guys for the way we defended in that second half and Itumeleng Khune for a well timed save, I was not too pleased that we had to defend so deep for such long periods in that second half. We were not as fluid as we were in the first half when we had Arrows pinned back and we looked more dangerous in that opening half”.

3 Pointer

Ertugral though did admit that he was happy to have taken three points off Arrows, and had not set his sights on collecting nine points from their final matches of the season saying. “Upon reflection we might not have played a beautiful game but the end result was one that we would have been happy with from before kick off. We going to be in three more matches where we going to be in a scrap with the opposition for points and we need to be ready. Our objective of finishing off the season with 46 points is still very much reachable, right now that is what is on our minds we will train on Friday have the weekend to rest and on Monday we begin the preparations for the final push of the season”.
