Kaizer Chiefs evergreen defender, Thabang Rooi has welcomed the Nedbank Cup last 16 draw that saw Kaizer Chiefs being pitted against Pretoria University (Tuks).

Rooi who joined the Glamour Boys this season from First Division outfit, Mpumalanga Black Aces has come up against Tuks couple of times since his days in the lower division.

He told kaizerchiefs.com, “They (Tuks) are a quality side and we should not underestimate them. They have some exciting players in their stable and if unchecked they can be dangerous,” he warned.

“It is obviously a huge motivation for them to be drawn against Kaizer Chiefs. We are professionals and we will be ready to face them. We have a Bidvest Wits game to focus on this weekend and after that we will shift our focus to the Last 16,” he said.

Thabang Rooi who together with his teammates at Chiefs, Gordon Gilbert played in the final of last year’s edition of the Cup losing narrowly to Mamelodi Sundowns.

“We are always willing giving our best in each and every competition we play in. The Nedbank Cup gives us another opportunity to have another crack in a cup competition this season. Personally, having played in last year’s final I would definitely want to do much better this season,” he added.

The venue and the exact date for the fixture is yet to be released by the Cup Committee.
