Defender, Lincoln Zvasiya has spoken for the first time about the disappointment of missing out in the African Cup of Nations 2012 this is after Zimbabwe lost 2-1 away to Cape Verde.

The Southern African side travelled to the Cape Verde Island knowing that nothing less than a win would take them to the 2012 AFCON finals but the hosts scored two goals before Knowledge Musona pulled one back for the visitors.

They tried to throw everything but it was not enough for them; “It was disappointing to lose against Cape Verde.

We knew that we had to win the game to proceed to the finals but it was not to be,” said the player who watched the game from the bench.

“It was very hot in Cape Verde and that might have been a disadvantage for us. We did play well though creating lot of chances but luck was not on our side on the day.

“It was going to be first time for me to play in the finals. I was very disappointed after the game so was everyone in the team. I am still young and I will be here with my country in 2013 when South Africa hosts the African Cup of Nations.

“We have a good team and even though we did not qualify for 2012 there were lot of positives that we picked up during the qualifying campaign.

It is important to collect points early in the qualifiers and we need to do exactly that if we are to come to South Africa.

Zvasiya who has earned himself a nickname ‘Harare’ from kaizerchiefs.com has another ambition for 2013 though; “I want to be a regular at Kaizer Chiefs by 2013.

I am learning so much here from the senior guys who are always there to give me feedback about my game.
