Chiefs who are the defending champions of the Telkom Knockout will now watch from the sidelines following one of the Club’s biggest losses in cup games.

The last time Chiefs lost with the same margin in a cup competition was in 1996 when Jerry Skhosana (who scored a hat-trick on the day) and his Orlando Pirates teammates ran riot at FNB Stadium beating Chiefs by 4-1.

Richard Henyekane became only the second player to score a hat-trick against Chiefs since the inception of the Premiership about 12 years ago.

“We were outplayed today by a great team” said visibly disappointed Ertugral after the game.

“I do not have much to say because we did our home work, analysed all their games we knew exactly how they were going to play. We had studied their passing patterns and their weaknesses. They scored an early goal and we should have equalised but it was not to be as that chance went a begging” he said adding that the loss to Arrows is the “darkest moment in his football history”.

Muhsin Ertugral said he takes full responsibility for the loss, “I take full responsibility as a coach for this loss” he said.

Ertugral added that, “We also missed the services of two players, Valery Nahayo and Tinashe Nengomasha who were both not available for selection for this game. We will have to bounce back and be ready to face Bloemfontein Celtic in the next ten days”
